This morning I got a an email from an unknown sender peacilia.benhlo@yahoo.com. The email reads (note text in red):

Reply to Peacsilia (you cannot spell your name, right?)

Hi my dear!

My name is Peacilia I’d like to introduce myself more to you because I want to establish a good friendship with you! reguarding (reguarding?) an important issue wish to discusse (another one!) with you on a personal interest from which shear my picture (please tear the picture to pieces) with you, so please write me back soon its very urgent. What happened to my spam filter?

I wonder how this sort of email beat my spam filters (I’ve always had a lot of faith in my email provider spam filter) Well, as they always say, if a human made it, a human can break it.

An idea!!!

All said and done, I’ve come up with an idea of how to progressively fight spam. How about we collaboratively fight spam by regularly updating an easily searchable online database where, after receiving an email from an unknown sender, you could verify the authenticity of the sender? Good Idea I guess.
I shall begin work on that ASAP.

  2. Just in case you are not already aware, there are currently DNSBLs (Domain Name Server Blacklists) that provide a single place where you can check that status of your mail server’s IP address, but you can only search for IP address.
