You can export contacts from a BlackBerry® smartphone to a comma separated values file using BlackBerry® Desktop Software 6:

 A CSV file is a simple text file for a database, that separates values using a unique character (usually commas). It is useful for storing large amount of data, without special formatting, and is useful for exporting to other database formats.


  • Blackberry Smartphone
  • USB cable connection (or Bluetooth)
  • Blackberry Desktop Software 6 or higher


  • Start the BlackBerry Desktop Software application.
  • Select Organizer >> Address Book >> Setup >> ASCII Importer/Exporter.
  • Click on Next.
  • Select One way sync from device.
  • Click on Options >> Comma.
  • Click on Browse then select a location where you want to save the file. (Make sure to add .csv to the filename before saving)
  • Click Open.
  • A dialog will appear saying This file does not exist. Create this file?
  • Click on Yes.
  • Click on Next.
  • You will see a dialog saying Congratulations. You have successfully configured the product…
  • Click on Finish.
  • Click on OK.
  • You will be returned to the Organizer screen. Make sure the Address Book is checked and click on Sync to generate the .csv file.
  • The file will be saved in the location you previously specified
