Have you sometimes been stuck while trying to update your Windows Software? There are many reasons for errors in Windows update. And if you don’t use an illegal version of Windows, there’s always a fix for every challenge (You can check the licensing status of your Windows here). Microsoft Support Center has a ton of help documents on how you can fix various update errors, but let us look at one very easy (and probably should make you feel silly) one here – Windows Update error with code 800F0829.

The Problem:

This post attempts to answer the following questions:

How do I fix the Windows Update Error 8000F0829
Some updates were not installed, error code 0x8007F0F4?
Windows Update Error 800f0829
Applies to:
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7

The Solution:

Some updates cannot be installed without your workstation being plugged to a power outlet. This particular update cannot run on battery power. Examples of updates that require a power source are:

  • Windows XP SP2 update
  • Windows XP SP3 update
  • Windows Vista SP1 update
  • Windows Vista SP2 update
  • Windows 7 SP1 ¬†update (KB976932)
  • and some more unlisted Windows Update

So…

Please plug your computer to a power outlet and retry the update

CEE 7/16 plug and old Type C socket

And that’s it. Your update should successfully run without interruptions.

That was pretty easy, wasn’t it? And it probably made you feel like knocking yourself for being silly. Well, there you have it. And don’t forget to echo your solutions for the world to see, by commenting, liking, and sharing. And you can send me a personal email by filling the feedback form to the right of your screen.
