Apple announced the availability of her best OS release – iOS 7. Rumored to blow off Android’s JellyBean 4.3 and even the yet to be released KitKat 4.4 (I’ll leave that judgment for you to make though) out of the water, you surely want to get this upgrade for your your iDevices.

Apple has already begun pushing these updates to devices worldwide, but if you are not able to download these updates via OTA (Over The Air) on your device, you could as well download the offline image and install it using iTunes.

1. Download and save the iOS 7 offline image. Choose the image for your device in the list below (hosted on Apple’s servers). It is usually in the .ipsw format

You probably may find trouble getting identifying the exact model of your iDevice (too many similarities between these devices), so I suggest you check out Apple’s KnowledgeBase on How to Identify iPad models and How to identify iPhone models

2. Download and install the latest version of iTunes. The current version is iTunes (Windows) and iTunes (Mac)

3. Fire up iTunes, connect your iDevice, and click “Check for Updates. Select the .ipsw image you downloaded, and allow it to upgrade to iOS 7.

4. Reboot

Viola! You are now updated

UPDATE: If you’ve successfully upgraded to iOS7, great idea! But if for some reason whatsoever you dislike the new look (I doubt if you’ll dislike it though), you may not be able to downgrade to iOS 6.
