I’m in church… A fine young man is chatting with a beautiful young lady sitting directly opposite him – church’s over and brethren are catching up on the latest happenings with each other – they are chatting so happily…

What was most prevalent in what I saw was the lips of the lady, glittering like the sun just out in the horizon. Trust me, on first look at this stunningly beautiful lady, her lips are first and most noticed. Her neckline also, though not as low as those “party” girls, still revealed a tiny little detail of what lay just below.

Then it struck me! What would this fine young lady be thinking when she stood in front of the mirror this morning? Maybe she said to herself “wow I look so stunning in these clothes. hmm.” Then she bends over a little and hmm, a little something is revealed, just one tiny straight line just on top of her neckline that says LOOK, BE ATTRACTED, BUT DON’T TOUCH. BE AROUSED, LET YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE RISE, BUT GO NO FURTHER…

Then she probably had said to herself “wow, I’m dressed to kill! Those men in church are in trouble today.” She’s not indecently dressed in the true sense of the word, since she’s not almost unclad, but there’s a little revelation there somewhere at the middle chapter that points to the verse down below…

She probably, done with the Christian┬ádressing, wanted something more attractive; probably to “stand out from the crowd”. Not a bad idea, she must have thought to herself… Then picking up that lip gloss, applying a little here, and a little there, the reflection from the mirror speaking back to her, YOU ARE THE FAIREST OF THEM ALL.

Satisfied, she jets out of the house, all set to make sure those guys drool…
After looking so critically at her, I couldn’t help but wonder… What exactly was her┬áMOTIVE for this attire? Were her intentions to glorify God, or did she plan to attract the opposite sex?

Now please don’t get me wrong. She may have actually intended (in fact planned) to rock the house, but that singular action (or maybe the motive behind it) may have rubbished her efforts at superbly praising God; not if when she’s “shaking your body” someone else is looking and doing more than just mere admiration…
Remember this…

Mark 9:42 KJV
And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

Hebrews 4:12 KJV
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

This applies not only to the ladies, as they are usually the most criticized gender in this, but the men are most guilty, going out with the intention to “shadow those girls”…

So, one may ask, what should I wear?

Unfortunately, I shall not define for you what is right in the sight of the God we serve (since it’s his sight not mine of course). So let the Spirit of God be your guide. A bible believing church, though not the ultimate, would surely be of help in your endeavors in doing the right thing. (If you are still skeptical about which church is right, read this article). Glorify God, not man, and by man that includes yourself.

And finally, God is a judge of not just actions, but most importantly, intent. BE WISE…
