Following the latest release of 2go v 1.1 instant messenger for Android, some users have had a not-too-comfortable experience. The new version is more data-hungry, and for Tecno phones (and some other low end Android builds), there’s a significant drag in navigation. And most users of 2go are lower end users (compared to BlackBerry Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber, WeChat, etc)
Do you want to revert to the older version of 2go? Unfortunately the Google Play Store doesn’t have 2go version 1.0 anymore and users are stuck with the upgraded 2go version 1.1, but here’s a working way to revert to the older version of 2go 1.0
1. Uninstall 2go 1.1 by going to Settings >> Application Manager >> 2go >> Uninstall
2. Download 2go 1.0 here
3. Make sure “Install applications from unknown sources” is active. You can do this by going to “Settings” – “Security” – “Install apps from unknown sources”
4. Install 2go 1.0
5. Enjoy your app.
You would also need to disable auto-update of the app (at least until 2go releases a stable version). To do this, Open the Play Store app, go to My Apps and select 2go, then hit the Menu key. Uncheck the “Auto-Update” checkbox, and you’re good to go.
