Most applications do not give the option of proxy authentication in their settings or options. This is a quick way to configure system-wide proxy authentication on your Windows PC without any software

How to configure System-Wide proxy authentication

First, configure your proxy settings  for Internet Explorer using the Windows Registry.

You can do this by

1. Creating the following .reg file to populate the registry with the proxy server information:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings] “MigrateProxy”=dword:00000001 “ProxyEnable”=dword:00000001 “ProxyHttp1.1″=dword:00000000 “ProxyServer”=”http://username:password@ProxyServerName:port” “ProxyOverride”=”<local>”

Where ProxyServerName and port are the your proxy server name and port respectively. If your proxy server does not require a user name and password, you can delete the “http://username:password@” string.

Save is as a reg file and export it to the registry.

Now export this setting system wide by running command prompt as an administrator and running

netsh winhttp import proxy source=ie

That should solve it all.
