After a trademark dispute, Microsoft has finally renamed its online storage and syncing tool Microsoft SkyDrive to OneDrive. What’s interesting apart from this forced rebranding is that they have added lots more storage – you can get 10GB storage free.
For a start, you get 7GB free, and if you configure automatic photo backup your smartphone, you get an extra 3GB. That means in total you get 10GB storage free.
While that may take some getting used to, the change also gives Microsoft an opportunity to introduce a few new features. Namely, storage space referrals and automatic photo backups.
For Android users, you now get automatic photo backups if you wish—something that was available for Windows Phone, Windows 8, and iPhone previously. On any platform now, if you configure that automatic backup of photos, you’ll get 3GB more of storage space (over the default of 7GB free).
Let’s not leave out referrals. You can now get half a gigabyte (500MB for every referral) and if this storage isn’t enough, there also flexible monthly plans too can choose.
