This is a follow up post to How To find all Linked websites to a Google Analytics account or Google Adsense publisher account.

To protect your online identity, I would recommend Andy Baio’s advise:

1. Turn on domain privacy with your registrar. This comes with a little extra fee, but it keeps you safe.

2. If you are self hosted (sure you are), do not share IP address with other sites. That way, it is easy to track websites hosted on the same IP

3. Disable tracking tools like Google Analytics all together. If you must use it, please do so with an anonymous email, and make sure each website has its own Analytics account. DO NOT LINK MULTIPLE WEBSITE WITH THE SAME GOOGLE ANALYTICS ACCOUNT! If you use WordPress, JetPack for WordPress so far has been good for analytics without revealing such information. Though less accurate, but more discrete.

4. For even better anonymity, use a proxy. Tor free browser seems to stand out as the most anonymous. (If you do your blogging with your Android phone, check out my review of Tor for Android)

If you are okay with your Google Analytics being exposed but you don’t want it to be hacked, read Lars blogpost on How to Protect your Google Analytics from Getting hacked (a live example)
