I decided to look at my blog feed at http://echo.com.ng/feed and I discovered that it displayed without images. Now this isn’t too design-friendly at all. You would agree with me that the best way to engage your website/blog readers is to add an image in your RSS feed (preferably your featured image).

How to Include an Image in your RSS feed

Take a look at this block of code

//Function to include an image in your RSS feed (featured image)
function featured_image_in_rss($content)
{
global $post;
if (has_post_thumbnail($post->ID))
{
$content = get_the_post_thumbnail($post->ID, 'full', array('style' => 'margin-bottom:10px;')) . $content;
}
return $content;
}
add_filter('the_excerpt_rss', 'featured_image_in_rss');
add_filter('the_content_feed', 'featured_image_in_rss');

Add this code to the functions.php file in your WordPress installation and save it. Reload your browser and you should see your WordPress blog feed displaying your featured image.
