Then you may have wondered “what is the difference between Reset and Restart


The reset and restart functions both cause the phone(s) to request the configuration from the TFTP server.


Reboots the phone i.e. it loads the image, configures VLAN, requests IP and TFTP address from DHCP and requests config files from TFTP.
Reset is required for changing date and time, upgrading firmware,…

Requests the config files from TFTP.
A Restart can be used when making changes on the directory number, speed dials, phone buttons etc.
