According to research by security outfit Skycure, and from the latest update from Google Security Blog, a whopping 71 percent of Android users are still insecure because they are either using out-of-date software, or aren’t patching their operating system.
AGE OF SECURITY PATCHES
Even though Google releases patches every month, less than half of Android devices update these patches, and with Android vulnerabilities on the rise (four times in 2016 compared to 2015), more devices may be left vulnerable. According to this research, 60% of all devices were running on security
patches that are one or two months old, and 6% of devices are running security patches that are 6 months old or older.
